Welcome to Part 6

If you know all 7 parts, you will know how to master German!

Assume you have to travel to Germany in 3 – 4 months because your job or school application has been accepted.

Can you learn German in such a short time and become fluent?

Now let’s be real.

You need more than 3 months to be fluent.

But even with such a short time, if you adjust your strategy, you can actually learn German and get really close to being fluent.

And I don’t mean being able to say, ‘I’m doing fine’ in German as fast as a native speaker or being able to combine words you learned on Duolingo.

I’m talking about being able to hold an actual conversation without sounding like a robot.

How can you achieve that in such a short time?

… With Rule No 6

Train the skills you need together

– to save a lot of time!

Which skills?

(6) How to learn German as fast as possible | Rule 6 (2)

Let’s look at some suboptimal ways you can improve your German:

  • learning with vocabulary lists
  • reading newspapers
  • reading novels
  • reading blog posts

>>> This would improve your reading comprehension, although not optimally, because you often don’t understand new words.

What about:

  • listening to podcasts
  • watching series on Netflix

>>> This would improve your listening comprehension, but only if you are already very advanced and understand at least 80%.

And what about the following?

  • reading grammar books
  • doing grammar exercises

>>> This would improve your grammatical comprehension but it is very time consuming and frustrating because you often don’t understand the logic.

Now let’s look at the hardest skill to learn – the speaking skill

Did you think learning German grammar is the hardest thing?

Far from it – it is learning to speak.

And learning to speak is not even possible with most methods.

Because in order to be able to speak, you have to practice speaking

The problem with most of the above mentioned activities or methods is that they don’t train all skills together and none of them specifically improve your speaking.

With the TPRS method + the Q & A Technique, however, you will train all 4 skills together and especially speaking, while saving a lot of time.

But you could be asking…

What if it doesn’t work for me?

It really depends on your effort.

If you practice everyday for 10-20 minutes, you will be fluent in 6 – 8 months.

How do I know?

Because I have taught German for over 12 years and close to 90% of my students who followed what I said and practiced everyday saw results and told me about it.

But what does it mean to ‘be fluent?’

It means that you will be able to hold a conversation and place words in the correct word order without having to think about it.

It does not mean you will be perfect.

You will still encounter challenges here and there, and technical subjects will still be difficult for you to understand.

But you will handle everyday conversations with so much ease that it will actually surprise you.

One of the best experiences in language learning is to speak in a foreign language so well without having to think about it, while others struggle just to create basic sentences.

That is what being fluent is and the TPRS method enables you to do just that.

And, most importantly…

Since being able to think in German is the secret to being fluent, you can only develop that when you speak with native Germans or when you study with the Question and Answer Technique.

So, if you don’t have much time but want to learn German as fast as possible, then I recommend that you practice with TPRS Lessons/Stories combined with the Question and Answer Technique.

You will be surprised to know that this ‘Technique’ is even more effective than having real conversations because real people will not correct every mistake you make (out of politeness, of course).

But what if you find studying to be boring?

(6) How to learn German as fast as possible | Rule 6 (4)

Watching a movie or videos on Tiktok is obviously more interesting than learning new words.

Now unlike other methods which are really boring, TPRS audio stories are funny and you only need 10 – 20 minutes every day.

You can just listen to the stories while walking or doing something else, so you don’t necessarily have to create extra time if you don’t like to study.

And even if you are an absolute beginner, if you practice these skills using audio stories together with the Question and Answer Technique, you will find yourself speaking at a level that people who started learning months before you cannot.

You just need to practice everyday.

Where to find Audio Stories combined with the Question and Answer Technique

Good question!

There are many books with stories in two languages or books for which there are also audiobooks, but the combination of everything + Question and Answer Technique (to practice speaking) unfortunately did not exist anywhere, so I invested a lot of time to develop this kind of learning material.

Of course you could ask a German friend to create something like that for you, or you can get the packages that I created.

Here’s the difference:

If you use my packages, you also have access to me and you can ask me any question by email, which is really important for your learning.

Additionally, you will receive continuous support from me through tips and techniques to improve your learning, and because I have immense experience as a teacher, I understand your learning journey and will guide you at every step of the way.

What other students like you said

I had tried other German language apps but found that they only taught me words and not a communication method.

Prior to trying Lucas’ method, I had tried other free German language apps. I found that they only taught me words and not a communication method. After 4 months, I knew some words but not how to speak to someone.

Lucas’ method incorporates all learning styles, audio, written and spoken. After only a few weeks I understand the spoken and written language better. German can be a tongue twister, but I am also finding I can pronounce the words better.

Lucas is also very personable and not just a salesman. He is interested in your progress. I would recommend Lucas’ method if you want to converse in German more quickly.

The perfect way to know how to communicate

This way of learning German is so practical! I don’t need to know grammar, I just want to be able to communicate and this is the perfect way for me to achieve this goal.

Cannot recommend it enough.

I bought Lucas’ program a few months ago and can not recommend it enough! I have already learnt more in the few months using his lessons than years of doing it on my own. Thanks so much!
