I personally love working from home. So, my list of pros is longer than my cons.
Here are my pros for working as a nurse writer from home:
◦Peaceful, uninterrupted time to work which increases my productivity
◦Lack of work drama
◦I can schedule my day as I please as long as I get my work goals done for the day
◦As a nurse, I treasure that I can take a few extra minutes on a workday to go outside in the morning to look at my garden or not have to get up with an alarm clock. I am thrilled that I do not have to punch a clock anymore!
◦I can do a little housework or get dinner ready during my stretch breaks.
◦No commute!
My cons or things that I do not like about working from home:
◦Occasionally, I have interruptions from friends and family that interfere with my work goals for the day. Fortunately, they typically are pretty observant of my established “work hours”.
◦Lack of movement due to being at my desk for long periods of time can be bothersome. I have to remember to build in plenty of stretch breaks.
Overall, working from home as an NP is a pretty great opportunity, in my opinion, with very few negative aspects.
