Are AoPS courses accredited? Yes. Art of Problem Solving courses are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Why Make The Problems So Challenging? AoPS courses are rooted in the belief that students learn best by working through very challenging problems that ask them to think in new ways. Everyone is challenged at some point in our courses. The homework in AoPS classes requires complex thought.

AoPS courses/books tend to be much harder in difficulty than a standard or even advanced course in school.

Choose from our introductory math, intermediate math, advanced math, or contest prep series. In addition to advanced online math, AoPS Online also offers courses in computer science and programming.

Our placement tests determine if your student is ready to start a course level. For example, to confirm that your student is ready to take Honors Math 2A/2B, they should take the Honors Math 2A/2B placement test. Students who pass the placement tests below are eligible to take Honors Math 3A/3B or Honors Math 3C/3D.

Our curriculum covers all of the Common Core Practices. Each of our classes also covers most or all of the Standards covered in the corresponding class from a CCSS-aligned school (and a good deal more!).

For some middle school and high-school mathematical competitions, any calculator is allowed, so long as the calculator is not accompanied by a QWERTY keyboard. This is to prevent phones or other devices that are connected to the Internet from being used during the competition.

Is AoPS Volume 1 enough for Aime? ›

Not necessary. Volume 1 and 2 books are meant for students who already have basic math education (so a lot of the things in those books you should have already seen before). They aren't really meant to “teach” you the concepts, but just elaborate on what you already know.

How much time will the course take each week? Including time in class, students should expect to spend 5-7 hours per week for the subject classes, and 2.5-3.5 hours per week for contest preparation classes.

Beast Academy focuses heavily on problem solving and critical thinking throughout the program. Don't be deceived by the bright colors and cartoon creatures, this program is NOT easy! Also, it's important to note that the levels of Beast Academy do not align with traditional grade levels.

Beast Academy is a great fit for children who do well in math but are easily bored with lots of repetitive practice. The program requires patience and perseverance for difficult problems, but it also helps to build patience for children to whom it doesn't come naturally.
